About Department

The Department of Media aims to educate individuals who will create and shape the content of contemporary media. The Department offers its students the opportunity to produce in various environments, for online or offline media, using the latest technology. The Department of Media derives its academic power from its roots in the social sciences, and thus focuses on grasping the social, cultural and political aspects of new technologies from a critical viewpoint.

Drawn from the core disciplines of the social sciences and humanities, sociology, political science, philosophy and literature, the Department of Media’s two programs (Media and Communication Systems, Television Reporting and Programming) train and educate individuals who will determine the structure of tomorrow's media world.

The students of the Department of Media produce content not via simulation, but with real-life experience in a real setting. The students work as reporters, editors, directors and producers within the university. In the belief that there is no better education than real life, the Department of Media offers its students environments in which they can bring about changes to the media sector and create new careers. It also strengthens this environment via powerful sector partners; these partnerships bring the professionalism of the media world into the university.

The Department of Media offers its academically-oriented students opportunities in communications research with its academic staff. Through our collaborations with NGOs and research firms, students can do research in the social sciences and graduate with academic output based on research and theoretical work.
