information and technology

The Information and Technology Law Master Program is the first graduate program of the Institute of Information and Technology Law, which is the one and only institute in its field in Turkey. The Program is the outcome of the investment that Istanbul Bilgi University has made in information and technology law since 1998 and its aim is to share the valuable experience that has been accumulated.

In 1994, Istanbul Bilgi University established an Information Technology (IT) Law Research Center, which was the first research centre founded in Turkey at the time. The Center carried out many e-government and e-transformation projects and had a leading role in the legislative and regulatory process in Turkey regarding e-state regulations. In this sense, it formed a bridge between the public and private sectors and created a network with local and international institutions. Now Bilgi University reinforces its leadership in IT Law by the foundation of an Institute that is academically authorized to offer graduate programs to support specialization in IT Law.

The Institute of Information and Technology Law is an academic unit which has officially gone into operation upon the publication of its Statute in the Official Gazette on May 16, 2010.

The Institute has made an application to the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK) concerning a master program, e-master program and doctoral program and upon the approval of the Council, has started its Information and Technology Law Master Program.
