Computer Science is the science of what can be calculated and how it can be calculated. It also provides the theoretical basis for the programming and use of electronic computers, which now affect every aspect of our lives. Our fundamental philosophy is to provide our students a strong mathematical background and help them understand significant results discovered by distinguished computer scientists. This sound theoretical foundation allows generalizing and abstracting a given problem along with its solution such that it also helps students perform much better in practical computer applications.
The program has four critical targets. First, we aim to strongly support our students and provide self-confidence so that they can do research in every stage of their education. Second, we try to equip our students with such skills to succeed through team working style. For example, we give many team projects in most of our courses. Third, we aim to help our students get actively involved in some of the projects supported by TÜBİTAK and/or European Commission for which our department has active role and/or consultancy. Finally, we also try to provide our students some social and cultural skills as they will most often serve for the needs of the society in various aspects.
