Research is a vital component in İstanbul Bilgi University's three-fold mission of teaching, research and serving the society. Successes among the varied research activities within each of its faculties and schools continue to aid BİLGİ’s reputation as one of our nation’s top universities. BİLGİ’s role as a foundation university emphasizes strong research programs in social sciences, economics and administrative sciences, law, arts and humanities, engineering and the architecture. Strong and expanding research and post-graduate programs exist in economics; architecture, and design; business; law; engineering; social sciences; the liberal arts; pure and applied mathematics.  İstanbul Bilgi University has particularly been a very important center of social science which studies the human aspects of the world. It includes an in-depth study and evaluation of human behavior by using scientific methods in either quantitative or qualitative manner. It reveals subjective, objective, inter-subjective and structural aspects of the society. In simple words, it measures the social developments of the society and finds the emerging drawbacks too. The work of social science is to watch where the society has been heading and what more can be done to benefit the entire human kind.

Whether in the laboratory, the field, or in the classroom, İstanbul Bilgi University’s research endeavors are diverse and comprehensive, focusing upon developing solutions to major problems that confront humankind and expanding the base of knowledge and technologies available to improve our quality of life.
