President Bill Clinton, founder of the Clinton Foundation and 42nd President of the United States, provides advice in areas such as social responsibility, youth leadership and increasing access to higher education. He also encourages civic engagement and youth leadership on important social issues during his appearances at Laureate campuses.

 

Sylvan/Laureate Foundation

Bilgi GGO Since 1997, the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation has invested over USD $20 million in more than 100 nonprofit organizations that promote education, youth leadership, global citizenship, economic opportunity and the arts around the world.

International Youth Foundation

Bilgi GGO In 2006, the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation joined with the International Youth Foundation to launch the YouthActionNet®program at Laureate universities around the world. The program recognizes and supports the work of young social entrepreneurs.

Through the Laureate-based YouthActionNet® programs, over 400 young social entrepreneurs in Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, Chile and Peru have received funding, training and networking support to promote positive social change in their communities. This year, a Central American regional program, led by Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and UNITEC Honduras, will recognize an additional 10 social entrepreneurs.

Global Days of Services

Laureate is committed to being “Here for Good”, both by providing students with quality education and by improving the communities in which our institutions are located. Throughout the year, students, faculty and employees volunteer their time and services to help those with limited means. But once a year, institutions around the network commit to making a global impact.

Young Social Entrepreneur Awards

The Young Social Entrepreneur Awards @ BİLGİ were launched in May 2010 as a collaborative effort of the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation, İstanbul Bilgi University, TEGV Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey and the International Youth Foundation. The awards program seeks to recognize and support accomplished social entrepreneurs, between the ages 18 and 29, throughout Turkey.

Each year, 10 Turkish social entrepreneurs will be selected to receive:

•    Recognition in a public awards ceremony
•    Cash awards of $3,500
•    A Turkish-language training experience on topics relevant to their social change work, including leadership, fundraising and public relations
•    Access to a global network of YouthActionNet™ alumni

“Robotics” - Laureate Award for Excellence

The Laureate Award for Excellence in Robotic Engineering is a contest for undergraduate students enrolled in Laureate Institutions to develop an interactive robotic system to welcome, guide and provide multimedia presentations to visitors at any Laureate campus. Consistent with the theme “Get to know my Laureate Institution”, the robot should guide the visitors through their campus and share the relevant and important background and facts about their institution in a compelling manner.
