Distance education system started as of March 23, 2020 at our University as part of measures taken against New Coronavirus (COVID-19) will be maintained throughout 2020-2021 Academic Year in line with the statement by Council of Higher Education. Applied and hands-on courses are conducted in hybrid form after taking all health and safety measures without requiring students’ physical attendance.

COVID-19 Commission

A COVID-19 commission has been established to track the developments of the novel coronavirus in our country and at the University and to determine any measures that need to be taken.

The COVID-19 commission meets once a week to discuss the measures that need to be taken and to implement them.

The COVID-19 commission is made up of the Acting Rector of the University Prof. Dr. M. N. Alpaslan Parlakçı, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aslı Tunç, the Vocational School of Health Services Director Prof. Dr. Zeynep Şimşek, the General Secretary Buse Pınar Kaçar, the Human Resources Director Sinem Özsoy Taşer, the Health Services Unit Manager Hulusi Orhangazili and the Workplace Safety Experts Nihan Topçu and Esra Karlık.

Meetings and Events

In line with the “Recommendations on Measures to be Taken in Higher Education Institutions against Coronavirus (Covid-19)” announced by Council of Higher Education, all meetings and events at our University with national and international participation are held online.

Measures Taken at Our Campuses

  • In accordance with the measures against Coronavirus, all campuses will be open to students and visitors from 08:00 am until 05:00 pm. Our campuses are closed to visitor entry during general disinfection.
  • The application of “Hayat Eve Sığar (HES)” is used at the entrance of all our campuses. For the effective control of the epidemic, the submission of the “Hayat Eve Sığar (HES) code” is mandatory.
  • A non-contact thermometer is used to measure the body temperature of staff/students/visitors at the entrance to the campus.
  • In order to provide a hygienic environment, areas on our campuses and frequently contacted surfaces in common areas (such as door handles, handrails and turnstiles) are regularly disinfected.

  • Grounds, hand holders, seat corners, headrests and backrests of our shuttle buses are regularly sanitized and disinfected.
  • Ventilation and air conditioners should not be turned on against the risk of contamination. Natural ventilation through windows should be preferred as much as possible. Buildings with a central ventilation system are ventilated with totally fresh air.
  • Hand sanitizers are available in common areas and at building entrances.
  • Measures to keep physical distancing are taken in common areas including laboratories.

  • Due to the importance of individual behavior in the control of a pandemic, behavioral surveillance will be conducted.

  • Even though the control of direct-contact individuals is made by the Health Directorate, the University will also carefully do the same to reduce the risk of infection.
  • All businesses operating on campus must take the prescribed COVID-19 measures and they are rigorously checked to ensure they meet all legal requirements before they are allowed to open and are routinely checked to make sure they are adhering to the rules.

  • Suppliers must take COVID-19 measures in order to work at the campus.
  • Books in libraries are kept in isolation for 3 days and then placed on the shelves.


Infirmaries in the campuses are open between 8.30-17.15 in weekdays. Physicians at santralistanbul and Kuştepe campuses provide service between 8.30-17.15, at Dolapdere between 09.00-12.00.
