The project titled “M2M: From Model to Meaning: Enriching Cultural Heritage Through Paradata-Driven 3D Models”, co-led by Prof. Ahmet Denker, from our Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at our University’s Faculty of Engineering, has been awarded cascade funding from ECHOES (European Cloud for Heritage OpEn Science), a project supported by the European Commission's Horizon Europe Programme.

The project aims to document cultural heritage in accordance with international standards by making scientifically based 3D reconstruction models of the Ephesus World Heritage Site accessible through enriched metadata and paradata. To this end, it seeks to integrate the IDOVIR platform, which enables the documentation of virtual reconstructions, with the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH).

Within the project, İstanbul Bilgi University is responsible for the scientific quality assurance of the 3D visualization processes. Coordinated by the Austrian Archaeological Institute, the consortium also includes 7Reasons GmbH, Technical University of Darmstadt, and HTW Dresden – University of Applied Sciences.
