Kemal Utku, our lecturer in the Department of Architecture at our University, has been awarded the Special Jury Award in the Academic Studies category of the 2026 Adalar Foundation Akillas Millas Research Awards for his thesis titled "A Proposed Impact and Evaluation Model for Architectural Design and Planning: The Case of Heybeliada." The award recognizes the study's valuable contribution to the cultural heritage of the Princes' Islands.

Organized for the first time this year by the Adalar Foundation, the Akillas Millas Research Awards aim to support research that sheds light on the Princes' Islands' multilayered history, multicultural social fabric, and natural and cultural heritage. Inspired by the scholarly approach championed by Akillas Millas throughout his career, the awards encourage studies that examine the islands' past as a rich and interconnected whole shaped by diverse cultures, social layers, and historical experiences.
