Acceptable excuses for mid-term exams

As per the unanimous decision of the University Academic Board, instructors are required to receive as acceptable excuses on the part of students who fail to take mid-term exams in situations below.

The list of the students related with situation (a)  has been sent to instructors. Students who wish to make-up exam(s) for the other related situations should apply to Faculty/School Secretaries with a petition letter and a print out of his/her midterm exam schedule.

a) For any student having three mid-term exams on the same day, non-participation in the second exam will be seen as an acceptable excuse.

b) For any student having more than three exam on the same day, non-participation in the second and fourth exams will also be seen as an acceptable excuse.

c) For any student having five or more mid-term exams in two consecutive days , every non-participation in the second or the fourth exams on the same day will also be considered as a valid excuse.

d) For any student having overlapping schedules for mid-term exams, following priorities will be set to receive as valid excuses: If overlapping exams encompass a core and an elective course, non-participation in the elective course exam will be seen as an acceptable excuse; if such exams cover two core courses, non-participation in the exam of the course belonging to the higher year will be considered as a valid excuse.
