Refik Anadol, alumnus of BİLGİ Visual Communication Design, was awarded the ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ Lifetime Achievement Award.

Internationally renowned media artist Refik Anadol, alumnus and the former lecturer in İstanbul Bilgi University Visual Communication Design, received ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ Lifetime Achievement Award as part of Florence Biennale which is conferred to artists who contribute to development and diffuse of contemporary art. This Award is being given to him in praise of his experimental and creative process, through which he has engaged viewers in a play on perception triggering a rethinking of aesthetics while dissolving boundaries that constrain the imagination.

Anadol’s Melting Memories, an immersive installation which makes the viewer reflect on ageing, cognitive decay, and mortality through the illusion of shifting forms on a picture plane with algorithmically generated compositions, will be displayed at the XIIth Florence Biennale.
