Structure of the Program

With the increase and aging of the population, dietitians practicing the profession of dietetics have become members of the profession whose role and responsibility among healthcare professionals is increasing in the protection and maintenance of health by developing optimal nutrition awareness, in the prevention of diseases by providing evidence-based nutrition therapy, and in the treatment of diseases and their complications.

For dietitians who are responsible for the prevention of various system diseases as part of primary, secondary and tertiary health care services that need to be managed multidisciplinary and for providing evidence-based nutrition recommendations within the scope of medical nutrition therapy, postgraduate education is required so that they can do the following:

a- Conducting scientific research in the field of food, nutrition, medical nutrition therapy,

b- Interpreting and transfering the findings and results of scientific research,

c- Following scientific developments and use them in professional and academic fields,

d- Providing patients with the necessary knowledge and skills in treatment-related practices in the light of current scientific knowledge in nutrition education, one of the applied stages of medical nutrition therapy.

With the master's degree, which constitutes the first step of postgraduate education, dietitians will be provided with in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of food, nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy.

The course part of the master's program with thesis consists of at least seven courses with a total of at least 21 standard credits and at least 42 ECTS credits, and a seminar course with a total of zero standard credits and at least 18 ECTS credits. The ECTS credit of the thesis is determined as 60. However, the total ECTS credits of the course and thesis cannot be less than 120.

The course part of the non-thesis master's program includes at least 10 courses (30 credits / ECTS: 60) and a project course with an ECTS credit of 30. The ECTS credits of the non-thesis master's program cannot be less than 90 credits.
