Areas of Interest

Idil Işık, PhD,  is Assistant Professor in Organizational Psychology at Istanbul Bilgi University. Her areas of specialization are behavioral dynamics at work, organizational trauma, disadvantaged groups like people with disability, LGBTQ and Syrian refugees, career development and occupational orientations, organizational safety and health, traffic psychology, psychology of power and leadership, competence analysis, and qualitative and quantitative research methods. She has more than 25 years of experience as a consultant, trainer and content developer in the academic, consulting and social responsibility projects toward various academic and professional target groups in Turkey. She has currently responsibility as vice president in the board of directors of Turkish Psychological Association headquarter.

  • Global Work Bullying Project, The purpose of this research project is to explore the extent to which national differences in cultural values and communication norms are associated with differences in behaviors perceived to constitute workplace bullying, and by extension, differences in preferences for organizational and public policies to counter bullying in different countries. Objective of study: Moving from self-ratings to us-ratings, studying happiness of families, understanding valuation of different types of happiness and quantifying emotional environment of societies – in one study of over fifty cultures. Objective(s) of the study: The study is to add to previous research to add an additional cultural cohort in Istanbul to enrich the data collected in the U.S. and Brazil. The focus of the research is to better understand the process that occurs for gay identified males in making the decision to disclose their sexual identity to another person

 Aim(s) of the study: To add necessary information to the gap in the current scientific literature about the development of a theoretical foundation and understanding of how this process takes place through lived experiences of 18-21 year old males.
