Evrim Büyükaslan Oosterom

Education

Dr. Evrim Buyukaslan Oosterom works as Assistant Professor in Istanbul Bilgi University Fashion Design Department and teaches flat pattern making, CAD systems for pattern making, 3D virtual garment design, and fashion buying & merchandising courses. Dr. Buyukaslan Oosterom obtained her Ph.D. degree, as well as her BA degree,  from Istanbul Technical University Textile Engineering in 2019 with her doctorate dissertation titled: “Exploring Consumers’ Virtual Garment Fit Satisfactions to Predict Their Actual Satisfactions”. She was granted for a year by the Scientific and Technological Research Council in Turkey (TUBITAK) to conduct some part of her doctorate studies in Cornell University. Besides her academic career she gained industrial experience by working in different production related roles in H&M and HTL Fashion (part of Li&Fung). Her research interests are including but not limited to: garment fit, digital fashion, 3D body scanning, consumers’ interaction with 3D apparel technologies, pedagogy of design education, and artificial intelligence for fashion and textile applications.

She is teaching flat pattern making, CAD systems for pattern making, 3D garment simulation, and  fashion buying & merchandising classes. 

Areas of Interest

Her research interests are: garment fit, virtual garments and virtual bodies, 3D body scanning, consumers interaction with 3D apparel technologies as well as the use of these technologies for fashion design education.
