Time: 6:00 p.m.
Place: Dolapdere Campus, Cinema Hall

Listening to the music in the city, or watching the city in the music... Romanistanbul can be perceived as an “insider’s look” at the tale of this duo –inseparable when it comes to Istanbul. It aims at telling the tale of this quite familiar story from first hand and in its own language, handling the musical potential of Istanbul, in particular the Roma as the focal point of this potential, in regards to Istanbul getting noticeably wealthier and in demand from abroad in the 2000s. This current situation that sees musical styles and performance forms transformed, brings under the focus issues such as the construction of the Roma identity and the transformation of the conventional description of “music player”.

After the screening, a discussion will be held with the participation of the director Özgür Akgül.
