The seminar "Hellenes, Romans, and Barbarians in the Renaissance: Laonikos of Athens and the Mistra Intellectuals" is oraganized by İstanbul Bilgi University Department of History .

Aslihan Akisik Karakullukcu is a PhD candidate (ABD) in History and Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University. She received her MA degree from Boğaziçi University in History with a thesis titled "The Akritai and Frontier Ethos in Byzantine and Turkish Epics" and her BA from Brown University. Currently she is completing her dissertation "Self and Other in the Fifteenth Century: Laonikos Chalkokondyles and Byzantine Intellectual Tradition."
