It is possible to discuss the different dimensions of food culture through the different products cultivated and brought to table in the Ottoman lands. The stages of production and provisioning of food were closely related to the institutions of market inspection and guilds. The search the processes of the production, control and consumption of foods that brightened the Ottoman tables demonstrate that the studies on food history emerge as a meaningful meeting point of Ottoman history with world history. İklil Selçuk will present her work on Ottoman food history through this perspective.

The seminar will be given in Turkish.
