This webinar will introduce the psychology of fashion and elucidate the cognitive processes of those who design, market, consume and observe fashion. It will also look at how clothing choices impact upon thoughts and feelings of the wearer and how subtle clothing differences affect impressions.

By the end of this learning session, participants will be able to understand application of psychology to the study of fashion, know more about fashion as collective behavior from a social psychological perspective and understand the individualizing and socializing forces that drive fashion behavior.

Participation and registration are free of charge, and open to all BİLGİ students and the participants from out of the university.

Karen Pine:
Professor Pine became Professor of the psychology of fashion at İstanbul Bilgi University, Istanbul in 2011. She is currently researching a number of topics related to the psychology of fashion. In 2012 she published a paper in the Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management about the effects of subtle manipulations in clothing upon first impressions. Her current research interests concern how dress can affect the wearer’s mood or affective state and serve to regulate emotions.
