‘Vlasta Kálalová Di Lotti, Czechoslovak Female Physician and Scholar in the Orient’ exhibition opened

On the occasion of November 17 marking the International Students’ Day and the Czech National Day as the Day of Fight for Freedom and Democracy (related to the “Velvet Revolution” which took place in former Czechoslovakia in 1989), İstanbul Bilgi University and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Istanbul organized an exhibition opening dedicated to Vlasta Kálalová Di Lotti, Czechoslovak Female Physician and Scholar in the ´Orient´, that took place on November 16, 2023 at the Energy Museum in santralistanbul Campus in Istanbul.

 

Following the exhibition opening, a discussion with students and public on human rights, freedom and democracy took place. Among the speakers were Prof. Aslı Tunç (Vice Rector, İstanbul Bilgi University) underlining the role of women in modern Turkish republic celebrating its 100 years anniversary in 2023, Mrs. Olga Hajflerova (Consul General of the Czech Republic in Istanbul, biologist and former student activist), Mrs. Adela Junova Mackova (historian, author of the exhibition, Czech Academy of Science) and Mrs. Katerina Komrskova (geneticist, Czech Academy of Science). The exhibition can be visited at Energy Museum until November 30.
