santralistanbul Campus Tree Landscaping Works

Over the last few years, many trees on the santralistanbul campus have been damaged or uprooted due to strong winds caused by the worsening weather conditions.  In face of this serious situation that could cause tangible and intangible losses or even result in bodily harm, the University has made the necessary applications to obtain permission from the Directorate of Parks and Gardens of the İstanbul Greater Municipality for the pruning and caring of the trees.

Additionally, the Dean’s Office of the Department of Forestry at İstanbul University was consulted and a report entitled “The santralistanbul Campus Tree Relief Plan and Report” was prepared by Asst. Prof. Adil Çalışkan, Asst. Prof. Ulaş Yunus Özkan and Asst. Prof. Serhan Sağlam for the study of all the trees on the campus and to determine the condition of all the trees and decide on the risky ones that constitute a threat to the environment.  Finally, the necessary permits were obtained from the İstanbul General Directorate of Cultural and Natural Heritage Number 2 Office by submitting the report dated November 3, 2014 from the Dean’s Office of the Department of Forestry at İstanbul University.

As a result we would kindly like to inform you of the plan to urgently begin the pruning of trees that form a threat, the removal of any dried up trees, and the subsequent planting of new saplings in place of these trees as stipulated in “The santralistanbul Campus Tree Relief Plan and Report” as of January 17, 2015.
