Results have been announced at the open, national and single-level competition organized by Çanakkale Municipality for the design of a new shopping and social activities center that will replace the existing office building and parking lot in center of the city. The first prize went to a project submitted by Dr. İdil Erkol Bingöl, member of our university’s Faculty of Architecture, Caner Bilgin and Bulut Cebeci, part-time instructors at the same faculty, in collaboration with Gözde Şarlak Kramer and Onur Kutlukaya.

The subject matter of the competition was the design of a new shopping and social activities center that would replace the existing office building in the city center and offer both office/parking space and cultural facilities that would improve public life in Çanakkale. The project submitted by BİLGİ members conceptualizes the center as a continuation of the street, offers a flexible spatial layout that can be adjusted in accordance with various requirements, and proposes an access structure based on walking and cycling.
