​Application Process for University of London Honours Programs (2019-2020)​

APPLICATION PROCESS of ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT and ECONOMICS AND FINANCE HONOURS PROGRAMMES

Application and Admittance Requirements for ECONOMICS Programme Students:

  • First time application in the Honours Programmes,
  • Original entry must be in Economics Programme at İstanbul Bilgi University,
  • Application at the end of the successful completion of the first two semesters of Economics Programme Curricula at İstanbul Bilgi University and upon having received a minimum of 60 ECTS (exemptions will be considered),
  • Successful completion of all the courses in the first two semesters of Economics Programme Curricula,
  • Mathematics Competency: A minimum of B- grade on average in mathematics courses taken at İstanbul Bilgi University OR a minimum of 70/100 grade on average in final year of schooling before university entrance,
  • English Competency: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent score (BİLET/Level 5 AT 70, Toefl 82, FCE B, CAE C, CPE C, KPDS/ÜDS/YDS/YÖKDİL 68, PTE Academic 70),
  • A minimum of 2.70/4.00 GPA,
  • Attendance in Crash courses and post-course Written and Oral Examinations, which will be held in September 2019 (Note: 12-hour Mathematics and Economics courses will be given and attendance is mandatory).

Application and Admittance Requirements for ALL Students (EXCEPT FOR ECONOMICS Programme):

  • First time application in the Honours Programmes,
  • Original entry must be in any programme at İstanbul Bilgi University except Economics programme,
  • Application at the end of the successful completion of the first two semesters of enrolled programme curricula at İstanbul Bilgi University and upon having received a minimum of 60 ECTS (exemptions will be considered),
  • Successful completion of all the courses in the first two semesters of enrolled programme curricula,
  • Mathematics Competency: A minimum of B- grade on average in mathematics courses taken at İstanbul Bilgi University OR a minimum of 70/100 grade on average in final year of schooling before university entrance,
  • English Competency: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent score (Bilet/Level 5 AT 70, Toefl 82, FCE B, CAE C, CPE C, KPDS/ÜDS/YDS/YÖKDİL 68, PTE Academic 70),
  • A minimum of 3.00/4.00 GPA,
  • Attendance in Crash courses, and a Pass Grade in post-course Written Examination, which will be held in September 2019 (Note: 12-hour Mathematics and Economics  courses will be given and attendance is mandatory),
  • Pass Grade in Oral Examination, the passing criteria of which will be determined by the Honours Programme Commission.


Students who satisfy the application requirements shall submit the following documents to the santralistanbul Campus - Faculty of Business, Economics Department Secretariat between June 11, 2019 and August 29, 2019.

  • Statement of Purpose (Minimum one-page long and written in English)
  • PROFILE (To be printed from Student Page)
  • COURSE STATUS (To be printed from Student Page)
  • If any, National Exam Score Documents
  • Official documents showing English Competency
  • (If Mathematics courses were not taken at İstanbul Bilgi University) Official document (e.g.transcript) showing Mathematics course grades in final year of schooling before university entrance
  • A copy of INTERNAL TRANSFER APPLICATION FORM which you handed in to the Student Affairs Office

Application Process:

All applications will be pre-screened and evaluated by the Honours Programme Commission.

All students are expected to attend Crash Courses and Examinations. Duration of the Crash Courses and Examinations is 5 days and they will be held on September 9-13, 2019 (Mathematics and Economics courses will be held and there will be a written exam at the end).

Students (including Economics Programme students), who have at least 3.20/4.00 GPA, can apply for scholarship for the University of London annual fees. Partial scholarships will be granted to a limited number of students only. For all candidates, there will be an Oral Exam (Interview) on September 12-13, 2019. Candidates that have applied for the scholarship should submit scholarship application form and other relevant documents listed in the form to the Commission during the Interview. The Oral Exam (Interview) will be conducted by the Honours Programme Commission in santralistanbul Campus.              

Both Written and Oral Exams are mandatory for all applicants.

After the interview and all other evaluation processes, admitted students will be informed via email latest by September 13, 2019 (It is the student’s responsibility to submit a valid email and check his/her email account regularly).  Students who would like to transfer to Honours Degree Programmes are expected to reply to the email by filling out the attached forms until September 16, 12:00.

Remarks:

  • Satisfying the application requirements or being invited to the interview, does not guarantee admittance to the Program.
  • Having a minimum GPA of 3.20/4.00 or above, does not guarantee being eligible for scholarship for the University of London annual fees.
  • Admission to Honours Programmes does not necessarily mean admission to UoL. UoL evaluates each applicant independently.
