HONOURS PROGRAMMES


Application and Admittance Requirements for Students Who Apply to Honours Programmes within their Current Programmes:

Application to “Economics and Finance” honours programme by an “Economics” student, to “Economics and Management” honours programme by a “Business-Economics” student or to “Management and Digital Innovation” honours programme by a “Business Administration” student*:

  • First time application in the Honours Programmes,

  • Original entry to be in Economics, Business-Economics or Business Administration Programme at Istanbul Bilgi University,

  • Application at the end of the successful completion of the first two semesters of Economics, Business-Economics or Business Administration Programme Curriculum at Istanbul Bilgi University and upon having received a minimum of 60 ECTS (exemptions will be considered),

  • Successful completion of all the courses in the first two semesters of Economics, Business-Economics or Business Administration Programme Curriculum, 

  • Mathematics Competency: A minimum of B- grade on average in mathematics courses taken at Istanbul Bilgi University OR a minimum of 70/100 grade on average in the final year of schooling before university entrance,

  • English Competency: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent score (BILET/Level 5 AT 70, TOEFL 82, FCE B, CAE C, CPE C, KPDS/ÜDS/YDS/YÖKDİL 68, PTE Academic 70),

  • Minimum of 2.70/4.00 GPA, 

  • Attendance in Crash courses and Oral Examination, which will be held in September 2020. (Note: 12-hour Mathematics and Economics  courses will be given, and attendance is mandatory)

* Otherwise, “Application and Admittance Requirements for All Other Students” listed below are applicable.


Application and Admittance Requirements for ALL Other Students:

  • First time application in the Honours Programmes,

  • Application at the end of the successful completion of the first two semesters of the currently enrolled programme curriculum at Istanbul Bilgi University and upon having received a minimum of 60 ECTS (exemptions will be considered),

  • Successful completion of all the courses in the first two semesters of the currently enrolled programme curriculum, 

  • Mathematics Competency: A minimum of B- grade on average in mathematics courses taken at Bilgi University OR a minimum of 70/100 grade on average in final year of schooling before university entrance,

  • English Competency: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent score (BILET/Level 5 AT 70, TOEFL 82, FCE B, CAE C, CPE C, KPDS/ÜDS/YDS/YÖKDİL 68, PTE Academic 70),

  • A minimum of 3.00/4.00 GPA,

  • Attendance in Crash courses which will be held in September 2020. (Note: 12-hour Mathematics and Economics  courses will be given, and attendance is mandatory),

  • Pass Grade in Oral Examination, the passing criteria of which will be determined by Bilgi Honours Programme Committee.


Students who satisfy the application requirements shall submit the following documents to the 

Santral Istanbul Campus- Faculty of Business, Economics Department Secretariat between July 1, 2020 and August 28, 2020.


  • Statement of Purpose: (Minimum one-page long, written in English),

  • PROFILE (To be printed from Student Page),

  • COURSE STATUS (To be printed from Student Page),

  • If any, National Exam Score Documents,

  • Official documents showing English Competency,

  • (If Mathematics courses were not taken at Istanbul Bilgi University) Official document (e.g.transcript) showing Mathematics course grades in final year of schooling before university entrance,

  • A copy of INTERNAL TRANSFER APPLICATION FORM which you handed into the Student Affairs Office**

  • Application Form: to be uploaded in July 2020. 

** This form is not required if; the student is applying to transfer to the “Economics and Finance” honours programme from the “Economics” programme OR to the “Economics and Management” honours programme from the “Business-Economics” programme OR to the“Management and Digital Innovation” honours programme from the “Business Administration” programme.


Application Process:

All applications will be pre-screened and evaluated by the BİLGİ Honours Programme Committee. 

All students are expected to attend Crash Courses. Duration of the Crash Courses is five days, and they will be held on September 2-8, 2020 (Mathematics and Economics courses will be held.)

All applicants must attend the Oral Exam (Interview) on September 8th (Tuesday). Oral Exams are mandatory for all applicants.

Applicants with a GPA of at least 3.20/4.00 can apply for the scholarship for the University of London fees. Partial scholarships will be granted to a limited number of students only. For all applicants, there will be an Oral Exam (Interview) on September 8. All such applicants must have stated their grounds for scholarship needs and submitted any relevant documents to the Secretariat before the start of the examinations. The Oral Exam (Interview) for scholarships will be conducted by the Honours Programme Commission.

After the interview and all other evaluation processes, admitted students will be informed via email latest by September 9, 2020 (It is the student’s responsibility to submit a valid email and check his/her email account regularly).  

Students who would like to transfer to Honours Programmes are expected to reply to the email by filling out the attached forms until September 9, 17:00 Students who fail to reply before the deadline will be considered as “disapproving to transfer” to honours programmes. 


Remarks:

  • Satisfying the application requirements or being invited to the interview does not guarantee admittance to the Program.

  • Having a minimum GPA of 3.20/4.00 or above does not guarantee being eligible for the scholarship for the University of London annual fees.

  • Admission to Honours Programmes does not necessarily mean admission to UoL. UoL evaluates each application independently.
