INFORMATION ON THE PROCESSING OF PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS’ PERSONAL DATA
a) Data Controller and Its Representative
Pursuant to the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (“Law No. 6698”), your personal data may be processed by İstanbul Bilgi University, acting as the data controller, within the scope described below.
b) Purposes for Which Personal Data Will Be Processed
Your collected personal data will be processed within the scope of the personal data processing conditions and purposes set forth in Articles 5 and 6 of Law No. 6698 for the purposes of carrying out the activities conducted by the University; providing you, within the scope of your status as a prospective student, with information about academic programs, events, offers, and all of our educational processes (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, training, and certificate programs); enabling our units to carry out the necessary activities for prospective students to benefit from the services offered by the University and conducting the related work processes; and planning and carrying out the activities necessary to present, recommend, and promote the programs and services offered by the University to prospective students.
c) To Whom and for What Purposes Processed Personal Data May Be Transferred
Your collected personal data may be transferred to our partners, affiliates, legally authorized public institutions and authorities, and legally authorized private persons within the framework of the personal data processing conditions and purposes set forth in Articles 8 and 9 of Law No. 6698 for the purposes of carrying out the activities conducted by the University; providing you, within the scope of your status as a prospective student, with information about academic programs, events, offers, and all of our educational processes (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, training, and certificate programs); enabling our units to carry out the necessary activities for prospective students to benefit from the services offered by the University and conducting the related work processes; and planning and carrying out the activities necessary to present, recommend, and promote the programs and services offered by the University to prospective students.
ç) Method and Legal Basis for the Collection of Personal Data
Your personal data collected on the legal grounds specified in paragraphs (b) and (c) of this Information Notice may also be processed and transferred for the purposes specified in paragraphs (b) and (c) of this Information Notice, within the scope of the personal data processing conditions and purposes set forth in Articles 5 and 6 of Law No. 6698.
d) Rights of the Personal Data Subject Under Article 11 of Law No. 6698
As personal data subjects, if you submit your requests concerning your rights to the University via e-mail at kisiselverilerim@bilgi.edu.tr, the University will respond to your request free of charge as soon as possible and no later than thirty days, depending on the nature of the request. However, if the processing of your request entails an additional cost, the University may charge the fee specified in the tariff determined by the Personal Data Protection Board.
In this context, personal data subjects have the right to:
• Learn whether their personal data is being processed;
• Request information if their personal data has been processed;
• Learn the purpose of the processing of their personal data and whether such data is being used in accordance with that purpose;
• Know the third parties to whom their personal data has been transferred, whether in Türkiye or abroad;
• Request the rectification of personal data if it has been processed incompletely or inaccurately, and request that the relevant action taken in this regard be communicated to third parties to whom the personal data has been transferred;
• Request the deletion or destruction of personal data where the reasons requiring its processing no longer exist, despite the data having been processed in accordance with Law No. 6698 and other applicable laws, and request that the relevant action taken in this regard be communicated to third parties to whom the personal data has been transferred;
• Object to any adverse consequence arising from the analysis of processed personal data exclusively through automated systems;
• Request compensation for damages incurred as a result of the unlawful processing of personal data.
