BİLGİ Industrial Engineering: Designing the Complex Systems of the Future

The Department of Industrial Engineering at İstanbul Bilgi University educates innovative engineers who generate sustainable solutions to the complex problems of the industry by blending basic sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles with modern IT tools. Our department offers students the opportunity to experience engineering hands-on, not only within a theoretical framework but also in laboratories and real field projects.

 

From Theory to the Field: Strong Project and Industry Experience

At the core of the program lies the competence to see the whole while analyzing subsystems and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner. Throughout their education, our students do not merely stay in the classroom; they work closely with projects, databases, and modern engineering tools.

Our most distinguishing feature is the senior design projects implemented in the 4th year. In these projects, which last approximately 7-8 months, our students are paired with leading companies in the sector to solve complex optimization and system problems in the real business world. Through this experience, students develop project, risk, and change management skills while conducting economic feasibility analyses, stepping into the business world as fully equipped engineers with an entrepreneurial and leadership vision.

BİLGİ Industrial Engineering adopts the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a compass when designing systems and processes. While learning to allocate resources in the most efficient way and considering public and environmental health, students gain a deep awareness of the legal dimensions of engineering solutions and ethical responsibilities. Raised with an inclusive vision that embraces diversity and is free from all forms of discrimination, our graduates take on effective roles in international companies and multidisciplinary teams.

Shaped according to the needs of the digitalizing world, our curriculum is enriched with current programming languages, cutting-edge IT tools, and data analytics applications. Course contents are continuously updated through the regular feedback of our alumni and industry stakeholders.

Our department holds the MÜDEK accreditation, which proves its quality standard in engineering education. Quality assurance processes are used effectively to continuously improve the department and to equip students with the "lifelong learning" competence, enabling them to track developments in science and technology on their own.
