İstanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law Code of Conduct and Ethical Principles

  1. İstanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law is an academic unit with its students and staff conducting research and education activities. Each member of this unit is considered to accept to act in accordance with the reconciliatory approach stipulated by law and other human relations and with the below mentioned code of conduct and ethical principles. This code of conduct and ethical principles find their broadest framework in the democratic culture of living together.
  2. Staff and students of Faculty of Law
    a. should engage in written and verbal communication within the University by paying regard to responsibilities of being respectful in style and content, polite, and attentive. They should not distort or hide the realities.
    b. should refrain from all sorts of discriminatory, exclusionary, and damaging discourses, actions, and attitudes.
    c. should act transparently, problem-oriented, and in a reconciliatory manner.
    d. should first strive to resolve the problems with the relevant parties.
    e. should pay regard to the workload, working hours, and research activities of the Faculty staff while engaging in written and verbal communication.
    f. should convey their different needs, wishes, and demands regarding education by paying regard to the fact that the educational style, form, and content lie in the faculty members’ area of creativity and liberty.
  3. In addition, each constituent of the Faculty is obliged to consider the social responsibilities of faculties of law, pay utmost attention to the issues of dignity, respect, and civil relations that are the requirements of the legal profession, and act in accordance with the professional legal ethics as a jurist and prospective jurist.
  4. The behaviors that require disciplinary punishment for students have been established with Higher Education Law No. 2547.
