Application Requirements

For Citizens of the Republic of Türkiye:

  • The online application form must be filled in completely. Click here for the application form.
  • Undergraduate and Master Degree
  • Official Transcript
  • Master’s Thesis
  • ALES | GRE | GMAT: Verbal-Equiponderant ≥ 55 
    Foreign Language Proficiency | Foreign Language Exam: YDS / e-YDS / ÜDS / KPDS / YÖKDİL / e-YÖKDİL ≥ 70
  • Grade Point Average: Graduate Program GPA ≥ 2.80 and above
  • Reference Letter: Two reference letters are required.
  • Exam and Interview: Click for exam and interview information.
  • Statement of Purpose: Statement of purpose is required as part of the application process.
  • Program Special Conditions: Graduates of undergraduate programs alone are not accepted. Candidates with only undergraduate degrees are not accepted to the program

For International Students:

  • Turkish Proficiency Certificate: Turkish Proficiency Certificate is not required.
  • Grade Point Average: Graduate Program GPA ≥ 2.80 and above

Statement of purpose (approximately 1,500 words)

The reference letters should be sent to Hasret Dikici Bilgin (hasret.dikici@bilgi.edu.tr) via e-mail before the application deadline.

The applicants fulfilling the application requirements take a written exam and the successful candidates are called for an interview by the PhD Committee in Political Science, composed of full-time members of the Department.

Both the written exam and the interview are conducted in English. Written exam is aimed at assessing applicants’ knowledge of both theory and actual politics.
