Travel and Accommodation

Travel options for international visitors (air and rail links):

Istanbul is served by two major airports:

  • Istanbul Airport (European side): Recently named the best-connected airport hub globally, offering direct flights to over 300 destinations, including multiple major cities in North America and Europe. Explore destinations.
  • Sabiha Gökçen Airport (Asian side): Provides numerous international connections, especially to European and Middle Eastern cities. Explore destinations

Many hotels provide airport shuttle services. Alternatively, both airports are well-connected to the city center via public transportation, with fares payable with an İstanbulkart available for purchase at ticket vending machines in major metro hubs, or through a downloadable app.

The Istanbulkart itself costs 70 TL / €2 and can be loaded & reloaded according to the number of journeys (TENpass = 200 TL / €5) or per diem for unlimited use (3 days = 680 TL / €18; 5 days = 1350 TL / €36)
