The passing of our esteemed professor, Emeritus Prof. Dr. Mete Tunçay, on 18 August 2025, who held a distinguished place in the history of Social Science and Humanities in Turkey and always guided us with his institutional and scientific work, has filled us all with deep sorrow. Following our professor's passing, we are gathering to commemorate him by reassessing his unique legacy and works and discussing his lasting contributions to Turkey's intellectual life. At our memorial meeting, which will serve as a tribute to our beloved professor, Mete Tunçay's pioneering role in interdisciplinary academic studies and his institutional contributions will be discussed in speeches given by his friends, colleagues and students. 

We are honoured to invite you, as friends, colleagues or students, to this gathering, which we have organised to commemorate our Professor, who inspired us all with his life dedicated to science and critical thinking and his pioneering role in all the fields in which he was active, and to keep his intellectual legacy alive. We look forward to welcoming everyone interested in Turkey's intellectual history.
