Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, İstanbul Bilgi University is hosting the exhibition “Sergei Tchoban: Between Layers of Time.” As part of the exhibition, architect and artist Sergei Tchoban, managing partner of the Berlin-based TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten, will deliver a talk at the Energy Museum on the santralistanbul Campus.

Known for his drawing-focused practice and his approach that seeks to reposition architectural drawing at the center of architectural culture in the digital age, Tchoban founded the Tchoban Foundation in 2009, through which he established the Museum for Architectural Drawing in Berlin.

The exhibition “Between Layers of Time” explores the dialogue between historical and contemporary layers of time in urban space. Consisting of two sections — “Drawings” and “Built Projects” — the exhibition’s “Drawings” section opens a discussion on the relationship between past and present through contemporary layers added to Piranesi engravings. The “Built Projects” section focuses on spatial and cultural sustainability through projects that engage, sometimes controversially, with historical contexts.
