BİLGİ History and Theory of Architecture Master’s Program alumna Elif Aybüke Turgut’s works, originating from her master’s thesis titled “The Phenomenology of Material: Measurement and Experience in Bio-Ceramic Art Objects”, have been selected for BASE 2025, one of Turkey’s most comprehensive platforms for emerging artists.

Four of the prototypes produced within Turgut’s master’s thesis, supervised by BİLGİ Architecture Department faculty members Assoc. Prof. Fulya Akipek and Elif Kendir Beraha, PhD, were chosen for the exhibition, which will take place at The Ritz-Carlton Residence Istanbul between November 19–23, 2025. The selection of works, which brings together 156 artists from 43 universities across Turkey, was made by the Jury Committee.

Turgut’s works, titled “Vibrant Matter”, draw attention as art objects developed from bio-based materials. “Vibrant Matter” explores the transformations of bio-based materials behind the lens glass crack, suggesting that matter continuously redraws the boundaries of its own existence.
