We are pleased to host Egemen Karakaya (Architect – Architectural Photographer) as part of the 115th session of Mekan Konuşmaları, organized by the students of the Graduate Programs in Architecture at Istanbul Bilgi University. His talk will be shaped around the question “What is architectural photography as a tool of representation?”, in which Karakaya will address architectural photography through technical knowledge and theoretical approaches. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session open to discussion.
Karakaya was born in Muğla in 1988. He completed his undergraduate education in the Department of Architecture at Dokuz Eylül University (B.Arch., 2011) and his graduate studies in the Architectural Design Master’s Program at Istanbul Bilgi University (M.Arch., 2014). He completed his doctoral qualifying exam in the Architectural Design PhD Program at Istanbul Technical University (2019). He has received awards in architectural, photography, and poster competitions and has worked in architectural offices. He has taught “Architectural Presentation Techniques” and “Basic Photography” courses at Istanbul Bilgi University. Since 2020, he has been working as an architectural photographer.
