BİLGİ – BONN History Graduate Conference

Date: May 15-16, 2026

Place: santralistanbul Campus

 

The third BILGI-BONN History Graduate Conference is organized by graduate students from Istanbul Bilgi University History Department and the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies and supported by Tarih Vakfı. The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for graduate students and young academics from different disciplines to present their research. Beyond academic presentations, the conference aims to provide and foster an environment of intellectual exchange and solidarity through engagement of the participants with each other’s research and experiences. The conference is planned to be held at Istanbul Bilgi University Santral Campus between May 15 and 16, 2026.

Submission & Application Requirements

We welcome submissions from graduate students at any point in their studies. Recent graduates are also welcome to submit their research. Applicants should submit (1) a single PDF document titled "Lastname_Title" containing a 350-word proposal and (2) Curriculum Vitae to historygraduateconference2026@bilgi.edu.tr. 

 

Important Dates:

 

Deadline for abstract submission: 16 March 2026, 23:59

Announcement of accepted abstracts: 1 April 2026, 23:59 

Conference dates: 15-16 May 2026

 

  • Depending on the number of applicants, we intend to have 3-4 presentations for each panel, and each panelist will have 15 minutes to present their research. After each panel, there will be a 15- minute Q&A session.
  • The conference program includes panels in English and Turkish. There will be no simultaneous translation during the conference.
  • There will not be any online Zoom broadcast.
