What are we doing?
As Facebook and Istanbul Bilgi University IT Law Institute, we have been working together on Privacy Programs since the beginning of 2020. Throughout this program, our main goal was to assess the privacy understanding of various segments of the society and provide them with informatory and empowering tools and documentation. With this in mind, we prepared three booklets, one for children, one for youth and one for parents/adults, and tried to explain what privacy and safety online means, and what solutions and tools one have when they encounter a problem. In order to present these booklets, and host a closing event that focuses on various privacy and safety subjects, we are aiming to host a half day long event series.
Why are we doing this?
Throughout the world, the discussions around privacy and safety online are becoming more crucial and institutions are expected to do their best around these key areas. As FB and BILGI IT Law Institute, we aimed to make sure that we provide the necessary information and tools for the wider users. With this event, we want to take this effort one step further and enable a deeper level discussion with policy stakeholders, academics and relevant NGOs.
