Solid-State X-Band Preamplifier Development

Abstract:
X-rays became widely used in atomic physics, plasma, material science, biology, non linear optics, femto-second chemistry, single biological molecules and clusters, imaging/holography, micro and nano lithography. The X-rays are the ideal probing technique for the structure on the atomic and molecular scale. X‐band accelerator development has gained improvement within last ten years, motivated by the need for high‐gradient accelerators for the future linear colliders in high‐energy physics research. Design of accelerator cells, manufacturing, and characterization technique have been developed. Due to limited RF power source availability for X‐band frequencies, the accelerating principle at X-band frequencies were based on highly complex structures. The development of power sources for x‐band structures gives opportunity this technology to be used as traditional accelerators especially in X-FEL(free-electron laser) designs.

Short Bio:
Mustafa Doğan received B.S. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Technical University of Istanbul, M.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1999, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, and Ph. D. degree in optimal and adaptive nonlinear control area in 2006, Boğaziçi University, EE, Istanbul, Turkey. He is Associate Professor at Dogus University, Istanbul, Turkey. His research interests include stochastic stability of fly-by-wire systems in civilian aviation (NASA sponsored research project), flexible robot arms, optimal nonlinear control, adaptive internal model application in nonlinear systems, and nonlinear PDE control of flexible manipulators. He is also research collaborator for Control and Integration (HV, RF) at T.A.R.L.A./TAC (TURKISH ACCELERATOR CENTER) Project consisting of LINACs and FEL facilities. and served as a Technical Program Committee member for many conferences. Recently, he has joined CLIC collaboration team at CERN. X-band klystron preamplifier development will be the first research project at CERN.
